Today I was skimming through one of my Pinterest boards when it dawned on me that three of my top ten favorite pins created the most fabulous outfit ever.  I was so proud of my outfit revelation that I logged into my old Polyvore account and created this set.  I mean really, does it get better than this?  Rhetorical question.  This outfit belongs on me at an East Coast rehearsal dinner.  Just saying.  I hope you sense the sass.  

Dannijo Satvi Earrings in Green - I will never let go Jack of the tribal trend.  So gorg. Take five minutes and play on the Dannijo website.  I want everything.

Parker Selita Pleated Keyhole Dress - I can describe it in one word.  Flirty-modern-esque.  Buy it here.

After the “Mad Men” Season 6 finale in June, I was feeling nostalgic for the 1960’s.  Ungluing my eyes from any episode and realizing it’s 2013 brings me into a melodramatic depression, which can only be cured by the next episode’s opening credits.  In other words, the only cure for Mad Men is more Mad Men.  But the season had ended, so I had no cure. 

Desperate to find comfort, I made a trip to the clothing store Time Warp to get a little vintage fix.  I quickly shuffled my Chaco’s to the ‘60s rack, and this red mini shift dress caught my eye.  I fell in love, tweeted a pic in the dressing room and forgot about my yearning to laugh again with Roger Sterling.  I purchased the dress for around $40—a steal considering that Time Warp can be quite pricy.  

To me, real vintage was made in a different era and exists today in its entirety.  True vintage is fun to try on, but difficult to actually integrate into my wardrobe.  I don’t consider this cotton shift to be vintage because I think it was made in recent years from a vintage dress pattern.  It doesn’t have a tag or lining, and some of the seams are a little rough.  Nevertheless, this Megan Draper-esque piece was a great find.

And here is my newest bag, Edie.  I purchased Edie in a color called hydrangea at the beginning of the summer.  Its structured and polished physique is great for job interviews.  J. Crew's website is only selling the bag in neon orange at the moment.  I’m glad sorry it bothers you that Edie doesn’t match my dress, but know that a limited money tree fosters creativity.  ‘60s dress, ‘60s bag.  They both have a common element.  Yolo.  That’s all I have to say about that.

Now for the Jeffrey Campbell's.  If I had several money trees, instead of just one, then I would also have a pair of black platforms, and I would wear them with this dress.  But until I get another money tree, or until my money tree’s buds re-sprout, these pretty nude ones will do.  Find them with black leather straps here.

If you really squint your eyes, you can see a red Swarovski necklace peeking out from under the dress collar.  It was a gift from a cute boy.  I like the sparkly pop of red under the structured, oversized collar.  It also doubles as a bracelet.  I can't find the necklace on the Swarovski website, but you can find a similar one on sale here.  

I also have a tiny arm party going on.  Marc Jacobs watch, leather wrap bracelet and Mignot Faget sterling red bean bracelet.  And a $5 friendship bracelet from Massey's Outfitters, which I haven't taken off all summer.

Summer can mean snowballs, neon leather or One Direction.  For me, it means dusting off those pink, yellow and blue eyeshadows and giving them a go.  The dark blues and purples of winter are long gone. Summer 2013 is all about the bright colors, whether it's a bold lip, bright shadow or some neon pink pumps (which I'm yearning for).

I kind of want a snowball now...

This bright look is inspired by my confidence to rock a yellow green lid. Having a job in makeup is fun because it is normal to be weird.  How many jobs do you know like that?

For pale girls, the sun outside is scary, which is why you must prime your alabaster skin with SPF!  I use Mac Matchmaster in Shade 1.0. This foundation is SPF 15, which doesn't sound like a lot but still helps your skin out with the rays.

Over the foundation, I buffed in some Mac Pro Longwear Concealer in NW15.  To set everything, I powdered my face with Mac Mineralize Skinfinish in Light.

For the eyes, I used Sunny Spot on the lid, Sushi Flower in the crease and Aquadisiac on the bottom lash line.  All by Mac.

Sister.

The word functions as both an adjective and a noun.  As an adjective, “sister” describes two closely related things, such as sister chromatids, or in polygamy, sister wives.  As a noun, a sister is a female who shares at least one parent with another.  A sister is a nun.

I could simply type “sister = Meghan,” then snuggle into my couch, flip to Bravo and absentmindedly dunk Stacy’s Pita Chips into a bowl of hummus for an hour.  Or three.  But actually explaining my interpretation of “sister” is much more enjoyable.

My sophomore year at Louisiana State University will mark the fourteenth year that I’ve gone to school with Meghan.  We were great childhood friends and have found ourselves as mass communication majors in college.  Her concentration is broadcast journalism, and mine is advertising.  Our similar career paths and mutual hatred of the human race have made us especially tight in recent years, on top of our life-long, common interests of fashion, beauty, travel, entertainment, etc.

Meghan is my sister.  Not because we share childhood memories or interests, but because each sincerely hopes that the other will reach her still existent, 8-year-old desires of personal and professional success.

“Two Not Sisters” is the first step in achieving that success.  The above “Ode to Meghan” is one of the only ounces of sap toward a human that will ever come from this blog.  Luckily.  Although our sisterhood is an important aspect of my life, so is Free People.  And Shopbop.  And my pair of Jeffrey Campbell Moochie platforms, which are pictured above.

I just really love clothes.  I really love food.  I really love traveling.  That will immediately become apparent, and I hope my incessant rambling will be slightly interesting to someone.

Now for what's important:  I'm wearing a Free People crop top and an Urban Outfitters lace skirt. Meghan is wearing an Urban Outfitters top and skirt and Jeffrey Campbell Adelaide wedges.
